Participatory Action Research for Positive Change

Tesja Kersten

Tesja KerstenTesja Kersten is a business coach and impact consultant for 7Senses. She loves helping social entrepreneurs who live their dreams. On the search to meet these entrepreneurs, Tesja met  Madelon – the founder of 7Senses. Sharing the belief in the power of people, in a co-creation approach, and both feeling an urge to change traditional development cooperation, Madelon invited Tesja to become involved.

In 2017 Tesja assessed and co-created the business model and the operating model, preparing 7Senses for further growth. Based on the assessment insights, she facilitated to define focus areas and to enhance marketing communication. Furthermore, Tesja has developed social impact measurement tools for the 7Senses Challenges and the Academy. Next step is to collect impact data and derive learnings and insights that could help the communities that 7Senses is working with.

As a person Tesja is enthusiastic to explore communities abroad: while travelling you will find Tesja connecting with mountain people, traditional tribes or remote groups to find out who they are, how they live as a group, what their challenges are and how they (try to) overcome these challenges. And if possible, she tries to reach out and lend a helping hand. She even spends sabbatical leaves to this mission of empowering local people to be included or to improve their own businesses. Which is why she feels strongly connected to 7Senses, the Participatory Action Research method and the 7Senses Challenges!
