When looking for an international internship, I stumbled upon the Sustainable Tourism Challenge. Just reading about how the team would co-create ideas with the community instead of working top-down made me really excited to be a part of it all. In my study, Landscape Planning and Development at HAS University, we work together a lot with governments and other authorities and the community-up approach is not something we experience a lot.
After the twelve weeks in Zambia, I still had some time to work with 7Senses. While talking with Madelon, we came to the idea to look into using Participatory Action Research during landscape developments. This would be interesting as most of the times Dutch farmers and authorities don’t work well together. Is it possible for Dutch communities to work together, just as African communities are able to do?
